Nissan Maxima

For some people, driving a car can be a terrifying experience. But this is mostly because they haven't gotten enough practice or exposure to feel confident behind the wheel of the vehicle they are steering. This is also the case with a new vehicle, such as the 2016 Nissan Maxima.

So when you’re driving your new car around Easton, ensure that you’re extra careful, to avoid any damages or scratches. Additionally, by remembering to perform some essential things during driving, you can make sure that you keep your new piece of shining metal safe and spotless. Here are the important considerations:

Drive In the Right Lane

The left lane is only for passing cars and unless you’re in bumper to bumper traffic, there is no reason to drive in it. In some states, you can even get a ticket for driving in the left lane due to obstructing traffic. So always make sure you are driving in the right lane.

Brake with Your Left Foot

If you haven't mastered this trick yet, you must. You must learn to brake with your left foot rather than the right. The reason is that braking with the left foot can allow you to step on the brake in an emergency.

Use Modern Equipment

Every car today comes with new and improved technological features that allow you to drive safely. Your Maxima also comes with Bluetooth compatibility so that you don't have to hold your phone while talking. Other features include brake assist, maps, and voice control features to maintain your focus on the road ahead while managing your music and the car. So make use of all the latest technology installed in it.

Give It Time to Warm Up

Before driving, make sure you give your car adequate time to warm up. This ensures that the engine has time to heat up the oil to a suitable temperature. This allows the car to drive at its maximum efficiency. Although this isn’t a requirement in new cars but it helps to increase the longevity of the engine nevertheless.

Your car is your best friend and how you handle it, determines how long it will last. Some people are really careful about their car usage which helps them keep it in good shape in the long run. Others, who don't take good care of their car, soon find themselves spending large sums of money on repairs. You don't want to fall in that category. So make sure you maintain your car and visit your mechanic for its regular tuning.

While driving around on the Easton roads, no matter how light the traffic is, always ensure that you abide by the rules in order to avoid an accident. You can never be too sure when things turn into a wreck so make use of all the gadgets and drive safely.

gmc-acadia-2016

Most cars nowadays like the new GMC Acadia may come with or without a spare tire. According to a recent report by the AAA though, thirty six percent of the 2015 car models were sold without a spare tire. This is because automakers want to lower the vehicle's weight and boost the fuel economy average. This can easily be done by removing the flat tire and instead of it, most cars now come with a run-flat tire or an emergency flat tire inflation kit. Let’s look at what these are as well as at some tips for your new car in Allentown.

Run flat tires have the advantage and extended mobility of reaching a safe zone off road and taking your car to a local service provider for replacement. However, you must keep in mind that a replacement may be expensive and difficult to find.

The other thing is the emergency flat tire inflation kit, which provides a temporary solution. It is beneficial to tackle only minor punctures. You should also never attempt to seal a cut or sidewall puncture on your own but should instead, wait for roadside assistance. An inflator kit can also damage the tire pressure monitoring sensor according to the AAA.

When Purchasing A New Car

Before purchasing your new GMC Acadia in Allentown, make sure to check whether the car comes with a spare tire or an inflation kit. Even if the spare tire is not included, you might be able to get it at the dealership. When it comes to taking a decision, take into account the expense of a sealant refill kit to perform a tire repair, after using the tire sealant system that came with your car.

To Do List

Over time, tires lose pressure and you should keep a check on your spare tire along with the others. Here is a to-do list to follow in this regard:

  • If the spare tire is stored under the vehicle you drive, ensure that any nuts, chains or brackets holding it, are tight. If they are loose, anyone can easily take your tire out.
  • Make sure the jack functions properly and all its accompanying parts and pieces are intact, including a lug wrench
  • In case you haven't ever changed a tire, especially on your current vehicle, consider doing it in the driveway so that you know you’re comfortable with it. You should have no problem changing it in a hurry.
  • Even if your current vehicle has now gotten old, replace all its tires including the spare, after ten years. You can check the owner’s manual for specific instructions but generally, that is the time frame you should change it in.
  • Check the expiration date of your tire inflator kit if you have one because these kits should be replaced every four to eight years.

Having a flat tire in the middle of the road can be frustrating. You must therefore ensure that you have all the proper gear at the ready and if you can’t handle the problem on your own, be sure to call someone for help.

2015-jeep-cherokee-trailhawk

The holiday countdown has begun in every home and families in Bethlehem may be preparing to take their annual holiday trip. However, if you have a car, such as the Jeep Cherokee, you need to make sure it is fully prepared for the ride. You surely don't want it to give you any kind of trouble along the way. Some simple maintenance checks can ensure that you and your family enjoy a fun holiday trip as planned.

Here are a few preparation and maintenance tips to follow in this regard:

Check the Lights

Whether your trip is long or short, night time driving or foggy conditions require proper lighting. It is also always better to be safe than sorry. So take a walk around your car and make sure all the lights are in proper working order. Check the flashers, high and low beams, directional signals, license plate lights and brake lights.

Don't Forget the Wipers

It is very important to replace the wiper blades if you haven't done so in a while, especially if you can’t even remember the last time you changed them. Wiper blades are generally not that long lasting and even the best quality ones need replacing in six months. If you spot any missed spots, cracks, streaking or tears, they are all signs of an imminent replacement.

Check the Washer Fluid

Do you know that a lot of the washer fluid can be used up to keep the windshield clear if you’re taking a road trip through salt covered roads and snowy conditions? In such a scenario, it really isn’t a good idea to run out of it during your trip. So ensure that you have enough fluid to last you for a while and keep a gallon of it in your trunk as well. Switch to washer fluid with an antifreeze agent if it gets too cold during traveling.

Check the Battery

Batteries lose strength as they age so it’s better that you take no chances if you are not driving with an entirely new battery. Get it checked before embarking on your journey to avoid any kind of battery trouble mid way.

Check the Tires

Another important thing to check is the tire pressure. Make sure it is correct before taking off and consider winter tires if necessary. It depends on the area you live in and where you’re driving towards. If you expect a snowstorm, make sure you invest in a set of all season tires or winter tires for your ease and benefit.

So after ensuring that all parts of your car are in order, you must not forget some essential items in case of an emergency. Grab a bag and put in your first aid kit, flashlight, fire extinguisher, jumper cables, warning light, and gloves for unforeseen circumstances and put it in the trunk. These tips should help you prepare and maintain your car for the holiday trip ahead. Don't forget to be safe on the road and be sure to stop at the shoulder if you feel too drowsy to drive.

2016-buick-verano

Buick Verano

2016 Buick Verano is all things luxury bounded on a sedan, performing at its best in terms of acceleration, agility and powerful handling, never depriving you of the ôfun factor in the process. The innovative high-tech car not only bears attractive curves and unmistakable style but is also loaded with exceptional features like Wi-Fi hotspot, 2.4L turbocharged engine, serene interior and safety components. The most sought after feature we look in cars is its good fuel economy. With Verano, you get the best fuel economy as well. Here are some fuel conservation pointers you can implement for your 2016 Verano leading you to a much better fuel economy.

  • Keep a close check on the tire pressure. Under-inflated tires exert more resistance on road which burns more fuel. Well-maintained tires enhance the fuel economy up to 4 percent.
  • Acceleration also lays a vital role in increasing the fuel economy. Transmission to higher gears occurs more efficiently with moderate acceleration. The gas mileage of your vehicle lowers up to 33 percent on highway and 5 percent on city driving if you only observe careful acceleration.
  • Remove all the extra baggage from your car. Unnecessary things only increase the weight that the car has to carry during the trip. With every extra 100 pound, you decrease the mpg by 2 percent of your car.
  • Carefully plan your daily trips. It's no good making several trips in a day to the same area for accomplishing different tasks. Run all your tasks pertaining to same area in one trip. It will save you from using twice as much fuel as is used in a single trip.
  • It's best to adhere to the manufacturer's instruction regarding when and which engine oil to be used, changing of wheels, or usage of replacement parts. New wheels which are not OEM specified may look good under your car but they create more resistance and your car ends up burning more fuel.
  • Use cruise control when necessary. Drive at constant speed. Inconsistent speed and constant slowing downs in between drive only decreases fuel economy. Also don't rash drive- for your own sake as well as for your fuel economy. Next time you over-speed just keep in it mind that for every 5mph over 60, you are decreasing your fuel economy by 7 percent.

Apart from following these tips, you should also maintain a proper car maintenance routine. It's recommended that you take your car to only trusted automobile dealerships. If you are in Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton, or Emmaus feel free to contact the experts at Kelly Car.

2016-gmc-savana

GMC Savana

Oil leaking from under your car doesn't look pretty, is an environment hazard and also can cause you your life by the fire risk associated with it. It's not an issue to be ignored for long and needs immediate action to get resolved. Most probable culprits behind this issue are damaged oil plugs and cover gaskets and/or bad connections. Detecting and fixing this problem do not always require an expert mechanic; you can easily do it at home.

Things you need

You need only a few equipments that are probably always present in your garage. All you need is a screw driver, some wrenches, car jack and jack stands.

Procedure

Use a car jack to jack up your vehicle and place jack stands underneath it. Make sure you place the jacks properly to support the whole weight of the car in air.

First place to start from is your engine. Check your engine for any leakage. Next check the drain plug and oil pan. In case of drain plug, you can easily fix the leak by simply tightening the plug with the screw driver. To check if the plug is damaged, spray any car lubricant around the plug. If bubbles are formed, it means the plug is cracked and needs a replacement.

Next head towards oil filter. If it's leaking, use a dry towel to tighten it with your bare hands.

Remove the oil pan and inspect the gasket for any crack or tear. To check the gasket, you will have to drain the oil out of your car.

After checking these areas and fixing the flaws, make sure you have done the job right. To check this, start your engine and leave it idle for 10 minutes. These 10 minutes and a careful visual inspection of the areas you just worked on will let you know if the problem has been resolved. If there is no leak within these 10 minutes, it means the job is well done.

The next time you see oil dripping down your 2016 GMC Savana follow this guide and fix the problem at home. Be proactive and always keep your eyes (and nose in case of a problem like this one) open to detect the problem on time. Don't delay fixing your oil leaks and hope they will fix themselves.

If you live somewhere in Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton or Emmaus and are one of those who can compromise everything and only trust the experts when it comes to cars, you are welcome to meet the professionals at Kelly Car.
